These HIV facts at least should make you aware about how dangerous this virus is. Most people know that HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a virus which causes AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome), a condition in humans in which progressive failure of the immune system. The infection with HIV occurs by the transfer of blood, semen, vagina fluid, pre-ejaculate, or breast milk. Furthermore, to get to know about how this virus attack, I give some information about it. 7. The other HIV facts stated that more than 2 million children are living with HIV/AIDS, according to 2008 figures. Most of the children live in sub-Saharan Africa and were infected by their HIV-positive mothers during pregnancy, childbirth or breastfeeding.
8. One of HIV facts said that in 2008, about 45% of pregnant women living with HIV received antiretrovirals to prevent mother-to-child transmission of the virus, up from 10% in 2004.
9. Another HIV facts stated that in 2007, about more than 450 000 deaths from tuberculosis occurred among people living with HIV. This is equal to nearly a quarter of the estimated 2 million deaths from HIV in that year.
10. The last HIV facts stated that there are some ways to prevent HIV transmission, including using condoms when doing sex, get tested and treated for sexually transmitted infections, etc.
